2026 menu rules in Turkey: what businesses should know
Last updated:
Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry: ingredients and calories
- According to the Ministry’s announcement, mass-catering venues must give consumers ingredient and calorie information before ordering; this started on 1 July 2026 for national chains.
- The information may be provided on the menu, a board, a digital screen or a QR code on the table.
- According to press reports, businesses with 3 or more branches in the same province have until the end of 2026 and other businesses until the end of 2027; numbered allergen labelling and nutrition values are also mentioned. Confirm this schedule in the official texts.
- Shortcomings can be reported via the Güvenilir Gıda mobile app or the ALO 174 food hotline.
Ministry of Trade: price list (Price Tag Regulation)
- Under the amendment in force since 1 January 2024, a price list must be displayed at the entrance; venues with table service must bring the list to the table before the order is taken at the latest.
- Under the amendment published in the Official Gazette of 11 October 2025 (no. 33044), a price list must be at every entrance and on the tables; the table list may be offered via QR code, but a printed list must be given to customers who ask for it. Every charge other than the price must also be listed.
- According to the Ministry, offering a menu only via QR code does not satisfy this obligation; a QR code may be used as an additional service.
- The list must show the product’s distinguishing features, the sale price including all taxes and the date the price took effect.

Frequently asked questions
Is a QR menu mandatory in Turkey?
No. What is mandatory is a price list at the entrance and, for table-service venues, at the table. A QR menu can be used in addition.
Is a QR menu alone enough?
According to the Ministry of Trade, offering a menu only via QR code does not meet the price list obligation. With MekanBook you can also prepare a printable price list for the entrance.
Is calorie information mandatory, and from when?
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, ingredient and calorie information applies to national chains from 1 July 2026. Press reports mention end-2026 and end-2027 for other businesses; confirm the official schedule with the Ministry.
How should allergens be shown?
Each product’s allergens should be stated clearly next to the product. In MekanBook you select allergens for every product and they are shown on the menu with icons or numbers.
How should I write portions and weights?
It must be clear what the price covers, e.g. "Haydari – 1 serving 100 g". If you price per person, say so clearly; unexpected totals based on the number of people at the table lead to complaints.
In how many languages can I publish my menu?
Turkish, English, Russian, German and Arabic. Other languages are translated automatically and labelled "automatic translation"; you can correct translations in the panel.
What happens when a price changes?
The menu updates as soon as you enter the new price, and the date the price took effect appears on the menu. Prices on open bills do not change.
Is the QR menu really free?
Publishing a menu and creating QR codes is free. Commissions on transactions such as reservation deposits or paying at the table are stated clearly in the contract.
How do I print the QR codes?
In the panel you can print table QR codes on A4 sheets — 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16 or 20 per page — in table-number order. A5, A6, 50×50 mm stickers and an entrance sign are also available; save as PDF from your browser.
Does the menu look good on a computer too?
Yes. The layout adapts automatically to phone, tablet and computer screens.
Do I have to take orders from the table?
No. Ordering and paying at the table are optional; you can use the QR menu just to show your menu.
Can I compare my prices with venues nearby?
Yes. In the panel you see the anonymous median price per unit of at least 5 similar venues nearby over the last 6 months. Competitor names or individual prices are never shown.
