Who is here, check-in visibility and social accounts

Joining a table creates a verified check-in. Being visible always depends on your own consent.

How check-in works

When you scan the table QR and join with the waiter's code, a verified check-in is made automatically. In clubs with a door screen, scanning your member card also checks you in.

Who can see me?

By default nobody. All of the following must be true:

  1. The venue has this feature enabled (approved by MekanBook).
  2. You enabled "Who can see me at venues?" under My account › Privacy.
  3. You agreed to be visible for that specific check-in.

Manage check-ins under My account › Check-in.

Who is here

Visible people appear with first name and last initial, photo and a short bio. The web list only displays people; messaging happens in the mobile app.

Social accounts

Add Instagram, LinkedIn and a website under My account › Profile. Choose who can see them under My account › Privacy ("nobody", "my connections", or "my connections and people visible at the same venue"). Social accounts are never shown on public pages.

Messages from non-connections

The default is connections only. If you allow "people visible at the same venue too", a non-connection can write to you only when the venue has messaging enabled and both of you are visible at that venue right now. It ends when either of you leaves. Blocking always wins.

Friend recommendations

"Share my check-in history with my connections" is off by default. A venue is recommended only if at least 2 friends were there.

Venues with a membership system

If a venue has its own membership system, check-in is open only to its members (or to MekanBook members if the venue takes part in the MekanBook network). If you are not a member you can still join the table, order and pay; you are just not checked in, so you don't see "who is here" or member benefits.
